Cohen stared Kindergarten at the end of August and so far he absolutely loves it!

This was his first day of school. He was super excited!
He goes to a public school, but they are required to wear a uniform. I thought it would be a fight every morning to get him to wear it, but it hasn't been a problem at all. I like it much better than I thought I would.
Kempton wanted to match Cohen so we happened to find an outfit that was similar in Kempton's closet. Too funny!
And Kempton wanted his hair fancy, like Cohen's :)
We dropped Kempton and Laken off at school/daycare and Dan and I took Cohen to get a donut and Coffee for us.
He cried when we dropped him off and I had to push him in to his classroom. During the first week that school starts they do a staggered start. Kindergartners do not have school on Monday or Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday only a handful (6-7) of Kindergartners in each class go to school so Cohen's day to go was Thursday. This gives the kids more one-on-one time with the teacher and allows them to be able to learn rules and procedures in a smaller group.
Cohen did very well at his first day and was so excited when we picked him up!
Cohen telling us a little bit about his first day of school.
Here is his before school hair and his after school hair! Haha! We don't even bother to comb it anymore!
This is our crew in the morning. Cohen's school goes from 8:50-3:35. Since Dan and I work at the same place and have the same work hours, Cohen has to go to the before and after school program at his school. We drop Cohen off around 7:30 and then drop off Kemp and Laken at their school. We have to leave work at or shortly after 5pm to get Cohen from the after-school program by 6pm. We usually get there around 5:45pm and 99% of the time he is the last one to be picked up, which I often feel bad about. After we pick up Cohen, we have to go the opposite way from home to pick up Laken and Kempton by 6:30. Then we get home and everyone is hungry and its just non-stop before bed time! It is absolutely exhausting! We are making it work. Cohen really likes his before and after school program. In the morning they do quiet, calm activities like legos or coloring. After school, they get to play in the gym and go outside. Most of the other kids are older, and so far they seem to be really kind to Cohen. He thinks hanging out with the bigger kids is pretty cool
They have a sports-themed behavior chart at school. Everyone starts "in the game" and then throughout the day they can move all the way up to "MVP" or move down and "get benched." Cohen is always "in the game" or above. He was so proud the first time that he got MVP! He is such a good kid....kind, smart, hard working and always follows the rules. So proud of him!
A couple weeks ago, they had "Grandparents or Special Friends" day at school. Since his grandparents couldn't be there I went in their place. It was fun to see what he does in the mornings and some of the friends who he talks about.. He was so shy and nervous that I was there.
Here he is with his class, getting instructions on the project that we did together.
So proud of him and how far he has come already this year! I was very nervous about him starting school, because the school has a 4 out of 10 rating and he didn't seem ready! However, he was absolutely ready and the teachers and principal at the school are wonderful (which I had heard prior to him starting there.)
