Our 1st Anniversary!

Dan and I celebrated our one year anniversary this past Sunday! I can't believe how fast our first year of marriage flew by. We had such an amazing year and I'm so excited to see what the next year has in store for us.  I am thankful to be married to such an amazing person. We have so much fun together. We decided to spontaneously book a trip to Disneyworld next weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We are so excited!! However, we did do a little celebrating on our actual anniversary. We went to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore and then to Bahama Breeze, one of our favorite restaurants. I spent a lot of the day saying, "what were we doing a year ago at this time?" We laughed and smiled a lot thinking about the events that day! Our day was a lot different than a year ago...but it was wonderful. We did miss all our family and friends that were with us a year ago, but  it was exciting to have Baby Jonas there to share the day with us! Here are some pictures from a year ago...

So in love...

I love how happy we are in this picture...this was right after the ceremony!

The wedding party....so much fun!

And now some pictures from our 1 year Anniversary...

We got to feed a giraffe. This is the main reason I wanted to go to the zoo. We both loved it!

At Bahama Breeze...mmm!

We got home and jumped in the pool one last time for the summer. Refreshing!

Weekend at Home...continued...

On Sunday I decided to take my nieces and nephews our for a fun day. I took my mom's mini-van. 6 kids and a pregnant lady... I can't imagine what people were thinking! :)

My nephews, Derrick and Caysen.  Caysen didn't come along for the adventure, but what a cutie, huh!?

The kids in the van! Alexa, Tyson and Derrick in the back. Makenzie, Hannah and Keaton in the front row. Don't worry, Hannah didn't sit there! :)

First stop, Taco Johns. Mmmm...

Park #1. Trying to get a picture of all the kids was tough. They were too busy running from one thing to the next!

Keaton and Hannah. Such a sweet picture!
Makenzie on this spinning thing. It was a big hit at the park!

Haha!

Alexa right after the spinning thing..haha!

Then to Dairy Queen for some ice cream

Park Number 2!

Derrick and Tyson

Trying to get a picture of all of us was hard, but we eventually got a decent one!
I had such a  fun day with them. I love them and miss them a ton!
My time at home was so great. It is crazy to think that the next time we will be there that we will have a baby with us!

Weekend at Home

Last weekend when I was at home I was very excited to spend the weekend just hanging out with my family. Usually when Dan and I go back to Minnesota we are running around and never really get a chance to relax. On Saturday,  my family and I spent the entire day at my cabin.

We all played baseball...

The kids went on a ride behind the 4-wheeler

Derrick went swimming...brrr!

Celebrated Jeff's birthday...half eaten cake from the baby shower and a family picture just like we used to take when we were little! Haha!

It was such a fun day! We played games (Taboo and Apples to Apples)  too later that night. I love spending time with my family! We always have such a good time! We all missed Dan though! :)

More pictures from Sunday to come in the next post!

Baby Shower

Last weekend I went home to Minnesota for our baby shower, and a relaxing weekend with my family. Dan had planned a trip to Vegas with a friend so although it is early to have a shower I thought it would be a good idea. Everything worked out really well. The baby shower was so much fun. I loved seeing all my friends and family again. Here are some pictures!

My Nieces and I before the shower

My friends Angie and Tonya. Dan went to high school with their husbands. We always have such a great time together!

Jenny, me and Nicki...friends from high school. They always make me laugh!

Dan's Aunt, Brother and Mom. It was so nice that Tom stopped by to say hi!

Thank you everyone! Thank you to my amazing sister-in-laws who hosted and everyone else who helped!

It's a BOY!

That's right! Last Tuesday we found out that Baby Jonas is a boy! We didn't care if the baby was a boy or girl, we were just very excited to know. Knowing makes the baby seem more real than before. I often catch myself day dreaming about him! We haven't come up with a name yet, and probably won't officially choose a name until he is born. We have some ideas, but are always looking for names to add to our list. We'll probably keep his name ideas a secret...we want you to be surprised by something!

The rest of our appointment went well. They said that everything looked good with me and the baby.

We went to the mall yesterday, and Dan shopped more for our boy than he did for himself.  I was shocked and exctied when he suggested going into Kids Footlocker. He of course went in to check out the Kobe shoes. For those of you who don't know Dan is a big  LA Lakers fan and Kobe Bryant fan. He is really just a sports fan in general. I think he's very excited to share that love of sports with our little guy. Here is a picture of his purchase from the Nike store....

Dan bought some "Jordan 12 Retro" shoes and a hat for our little guy.

Finally, I will leave you with some of our SON's latest pictures!

This picture is showing that he is a boy...see the arrow?

His head and big belly! :)

His Face

His Legs. I'm not sure I understand this one. But his legs are definitley connected to the rest of his body!

His Arms

We'll that is all for now! I'm going back to Minnesota next week! I am so excited to see my family and friends!!

Baby Jonas

Wow..two posts in one day! I know you are proud! This one is all about the new addition that will arrive in December...or January! Since this is my first post about the baby, I will try to recap as much as I can.

Dan and I were somewhat planning to have a baby, but it happened quicker than expected! It happened right away, but I am so grateful for that. Especially, when I started to feel better and to think that I am almost half way there is exciting. Plus, I know that people try and try and try so for us to get pregnant right away is a blessing.

The first trimester was not great, but it could have been worse.  I felt very nauseous, always hungry but nothing ever sounded good to eat. I didn't eat many of the normal things that I ate, except pickles of course. Those almost always sounded good and still do! The only things that really ever sounded good were fruits and vegetables, which I guess isn't a horrible thing. A lot of things just made me feel nauseous. We went to New York and all the hot dog stands on the corners made me want to throw up! I actually only threw up once. Very thankful for that. I was also very exhausted! One Saturday I nearly slept all day! Anyway, the good thing is that throughout all of our appointments they said everything was great with the baby.

These days things are much better! Like I said I am 19 weeks now. Well, depending on what due date you use. I have had several different dates...December 23, 26, 28 31 and January 1. I am hoping that the baby comes in December, but as long as he or she is healthy I don't really mind! Anyway, according to the book the baby is about the size of a large mango although, I feel like I'm the size of a basketball! Random people are starting to comment on the pregnancy which is a little weird but exciting as well. I've joined a fitness class through the hospital where I will be delivering the baby. It is a stretching and toning class, but the greatest part is that there are about 10 other pregnant woman there. We spend a lot of time chatting while exercising and learning a lot about pregnancy that most people don't tell you!  It is so much fun to see them every week and to talk about our pregnancies. Also, in a couple weeks it is partners week! Dan is thrilled about coming to the class. Ok, not really, but I think I'll be able to drag him along.

We don't know if the baby is a boy or girl yet, but we should be able to find out on Tuesday! I am so excited to know! A lot of people ask what we want, a boy or girl. I really honestly don't care, which is good because I don't have a choice! I would love a boy since my little nephew, Casyen was just born in June. It would be fun to see them grow up together. Anyway, two of my good friends are having girls in October and December, so that would be fun to have a girl too! As long as our baby is a Lakers fan I think Dan will be happy! I just want a healthy baby. I will definitely post shortly after we find out.

I will leave you with some pictures of our little one...

Looking cozy...

His or her arms. Don't you want a hug?  :)

The little legs...crossed...like a little lady?

Have a great week!

Busy Busy Busy...

Well, so much for trying to blog regularly. I am really hoping that it gets better! Dan and I have had such a busy summer. I thought that this summer would be less busy without a wedding to plan, but it hasn't turned out that way. I think part of it is trying to do as much as possible before we become a family of three! Here are some highlights of our summer so far...

We started our summer by going to Disneyworld for Memorial Day weekend. I didn't feel the greatest there, but we had a lot of fun! It was exhausting, and disappointing that I had to sit out on some rides, but we still really enjoyed ourselves.

In June we went to Philadelphia for Dan's cousin's graduation from the Art Institute. It was perfect because the Twins were playing in Philly that weekend. We bought tickets to the game on Saturday. His cousin graduated on a Friday. Instead of getting a hotel room in Philly for the night we drove an hour to Atlantic City. Dan ended up winning enough money to pay for our room! Anyway, we drove back to Philly and went to the game on Saturday. It was a great game. Twins scored 4 or 5 runs in the 9th to tie the game. They ended up winning in Extra innings!

At the end of June we went to North Carolina with the Gerdings (Dan's Aunt and family). They rented a gorgeous house right on the beach. They went for a week, but we came for the end of the week. We went jet skiing, mini-golfing, did a cooking lesson, played pool, watched movies in the theater, playing games and relaxed at the pool. It was great to get away for a little bit and have fun with the Gerdings. We always have a good time with them.

I also celebrated my birthday while in North Carolina. It happened to be our last night there and they catered in this fabulous meal. The cook came to the house and cooked all day! The food was amazing and the chocolate cake she made was so good and of course Dan's favorite!

A couple weeks ago the Twins played four games against the Orioles in Baltimore. We were fortunate to go to all 4 games. It was when we were in our heat wave though! On the Saturday night game the temperature when the game started at 7:05pm was 99 degrees! They gave out free ice so that helped a little bit. We had so much fun though! A home run ball came right at us. You could see us on T.V...well I was scared and trying to get out of the way. I never thought that I would be scared, but they come at you pretty fast. The Orioles are not a very good team so we could get really good seats for pretty cheap.

The other thing that has been keep us pretty busy is Baby Jonas and he or she isn't even here yet! I am 19 weeks now, and we couldn't be happier. There will be more to come in the next post about the baby, but he or she has definitely keep us busy for sure. I have been pretty exhausted (better now) so sleep has become one of my favorite things! The doctor appointments, getting ready for the baby and learning all we can has been taking up a lot of time too. I'm not at all complaining though! :)

More to come...!

Katie
